Beast of Burden

Jesus rode on a donkey into Jerusalem before the Passover. Seems simple enough…right? This single event sparked ripple effects among the Jewish people. By riding on a donkey (a beast of burden), it not only signified that He was a King, but was also fulfilling prophecy. The shouts and echos of Hosanna have long since faded in thousands of years past. The garments they threw down at His feet are now buried in the debris of generations. But Jesus riding on that donkey so long ago still means something today. Jesus has overcome. Just as when He had control over that beast of burden, He still can take charge over our burdens. Do you shout Hosanna when He guides you in overcoming a trial or blesses you? Do you lay down your garments of pride and shame at His feet? Though the event of Jesus entering Jerusalem happened in history past, give Him the reigns of your burdens today. Zechariah 9:9, Matthew 11:28, Psalm 55:22, 1 Peter 5:7
