Respite

Relax… Close your eyes. Breathe in. Breathe out. Taking the time to exercise rest will refuel your soul. It sounds like an oxymoron to “exercise rest,” but even Jesus, Himself, took time for it. Resting your mind is healthy. When you closed your eyes, chances are that you thought of something – a mountain stream…or the mountain of office work that looms over you today. Reverie. Daydream. Relax. But most importantly, pray. For me, extreme peace washes over when I’m in the Lord’s presence, focused and praying. In today’s culture, we are busier than ever. Combat busyness with respite and prayer. Sometimes, we just need a moment to calm our minds… Take that moment now. Luke 5:16. Matthew 6:6. Genesis 2:2-3. Philippians 4:6-8.
