When Storms Come

Driving toward my destination, the conditions ahead were unmistakable – dark clouds, threatening weather ahead. The sight was starkly different than the sunshine directly above me, which indicated a sunny, beautiful day. Knowing that ominous clouds would soon greet me, I double-checked that my passengers were secure, checked that my windshield wipers were in good order, and observed the distance of the other cars around me just in case of a sudden downpour.

It made me think of life… don’t you wish you could see the storms of life in the distance and be able to prepare? We are often drenched with an immediate deluge with no warning. We are left unprepared, in danger, and soaked.

For the believer, no matter what lies ahead, we know that the Lord’s got us covered. He sees the storms, knows their purpose, and is prepared to guide us. How beautiful it is to be a child of God! Is your life calm and balmy today? Or is it turbulent and treacherous? Rely on the Lord to guide you in both times – not just the storms. And trust that He will be with you, even when life isn’t sunny. Matthew 28:20b. Hebrews 13:5. Romans 8:38-39. Isaiah 25:1-4. Proverbs 18:10.
