There are voices all around us – buy this, check this out, listen here, do that, you need, you deserve, slow down, speed up, start, stop… it’s overwhelming and it comes at us from all directions. Every day.
When voices compete for your attention, how do you decide which to follow? Do you follow the loudest? The one that talks the longest? No one can possibly listen to all of them! It can be unnerving and unsettling to think about all the directions you’re pulled daily.
Consider the soft, still, small voice of God. It speaks truth. It speaks love. Read the account of Elijah when he fled in 2 Kings 19:11-13, when God wasn’t in the massive displays of nature, but in the “delicate whisper.” How beautiful is that!?
It’s time to be still. It’s time to remember the Voice that truly matters. It’s that still, small one. The one that whispers that He loves you. The one that says, “come, all who are weary…and I’ll give you rest.”
It’s amazing when you sit in the presence of Almighty God what He may speak to you through His Spirit. It’s the one true voice you need to hear today amidst the clamor of vying voices. Matthew 11:28. John 10:27. Psalm 46:10. Mark 1:35. Psalm 66:19. ©️2019 Rachel D. Lyne
