T is for Thanksgiving – Acts

And I’m not talking about the holiday, even though it is good to give thanks then!

I am talking about thanksgiving – for the good times and bad times – what?!

Yes, we need to be thankful for it all – the times of plenty, the times of want… the times of joy and for the times of sorrow… the times of understanding and the times of weakness. Why? Because God has a purpose for it all.

Counter-cultural, isn’t it?

If we know God is good and is for us, yes, we need to thank Him when we go through trials, as well as when we go through times of obvious blessing. Because we know the testing of our faith produces steadfastness (James 1).

If you find it difficult to do that, then simply thank Him for who He is. Simply thank Him for holding the world in His hands. Simply thank Him for being the sovereign Judge that He says He is. Simply thank Him that His love DOES endure forever. (I’m preaching to myself here, too!)

So, what are you thankful for? Are you thankful in all circumstances? Ask God to show you how. He will come alongside you as you seek to give Him thanks today!
