Power-washing Our Lives

Recently, for the very first time, I handled a gadget of genius innovation called a power-washer. I took the wand, pressed, and expelled such force, that the once-black patio turned into a like-new beige. I’m not sure if anyone is like me in this, but I get a crazy sense of accomplishment when I clean something downright disgusting and make it sparkle. It took time to clean the 8’x14′ patio – nearly 3 hours – but the gratifying feeling when it was all clean, and the grime washed away, was near euphoria. It made me think of how God cleanses sin from our hearts. When we confess our wrongdoings, we see life in a fresh way. If we try to handle things on our own and pridefully refuse to go to Him, we are stuck in the depressing, gloomy darkness inside ourselves…and the grime accumulates even more with neglect. On the other hand, to confess and know that we have been forgiven brings joy, peace, and thankfulness. Our hearts are refreshed and we are renewed with strength. Do you need some power-washing in your life today? Take it to the Lord. Unlike my 3-hour task, God instantly forgives and removes sin as far as the east is from the west. Now THAT is something to be euphoric about. 1 John 1:9. Psalm 103:2. Isaiah 1:18. Colossians 1:13-14.
