The Sparrow

Driving to work today, I was stressed. By 8am, I’d dealt with a sick kid who was up all night, pictures for a final day of school, packing extracurricular activity clothing, lunches, being late for the other kid’s school, packing an item for a picnic they had… my mind was a wreck. Then, the Lord’s still, small voice whispered, “sparrow.” …Calm. He cares for the birds and He cares for me. He watches over me. He loves me. He sees me. In Genesis, when Hagar ran from Sarai and she was alone, God saw her in her distress and spoke to her. She called Him (the only time in the Bible) “El Roi,” which means, “the God who sees me.” He sees our chaos. He cares about the stress headaches that we all get. If you’re feeling overwhelmed today, just remember that He sees you. You. Loves you. You. Breathe. Let your anxiety melt in knowing He cares for you today. Matthew 10:29-30. Matthew 6:25-34. Genesis 16. 1 Peter 5:7.
