The Hunted

Ducking and diving,

I’m too used to hiding;

I am the hunted.

Fear stretches near,

Attacks are upon my back

I am the hunted.

Wide eyes search for escape.

This peril, all can relate.

I am the hunted.

Innocent like a lamb,

Ignorant ostrich, head in the sand;

I am the hunted.

Day after day, the toils wage,

Week after week, anxieties pique;

I am the hunted.

Tired of the useless running,

Exhausted from the enemy’s cunning,

I am the hunted.

But… I am protected.

Protected am I from the flames that fire.

Protected am I from shameful desire.

The Master of my soul knows fully my strife.

The Master of my heart brings abundant new life.

No longer needless worry do I serve.

No longer ruthless guilt do I deserve.

The Master has paid my way to freedom

So that I can say,

“I am hunted, but I am protected.”

Friends, watch out for the roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Just remember: our God is greater, higher, powerful, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, holy, and so much more than we could ever fathom. If God is for us, who can be against us? Take heart. He has overcome the world.
