As I was using my child’s nail file (don’t judge!), I saw it said, “Own Your Crown.” Now, in basic human terms, it means everything about “self.” “Make yourself happy…you’re worthy of everything…make yourself higher than you should be because you deserve it…” and the list goes on.
After staring at it for a while, it occurred to me… we DO have a crown that we can own – and it’s given to us by God Himself when we accept His love for us and we choose to obey Him. He calls us His heirs! He calls us His children! But… what does that mean?
It means our citizenship is in heaven and that we represent the King of kings as His children! As His children, we need to “own our crown” in the sense of knowing who we belong to and represent Him as such.
Oddly enough, only an hour after I considered the nail file message, a message popped up on my feed, “On my darkest days, when I feel inadequate, unloved, and unworthy, I remember whose daughter I am and I straighten my crown (credit to Women of Faith).” Wow.
Owning our crowns also reminds us that we are loved and enough. Ladies and gentlemen, own your spiritual crown today. Know where your citizenship is and know that you are loved! ©️2019 Rachel D. Lyne
