We’ve all tried to build kingdoms on our own.
Banes of existence in castles, on thrones.
Set high above, which should be brought low.
Raising flags from depths of the undertow.
Making selfish decrees of empty intent;
Proclaiming independence from whence we were sent.
Fighting fears donning our armor of rust,
Swinging at darkness with swords of dust.
But…when our kingdom is God’s, the victory is sure;
Strong against what the enemy will lure.
Close up the drawbridge of our hearts,
Trusting in the strength of His ramparts.
Sound the battle cry, knowing the war is won!
I serve the Kingdom of the Father, Spirit, and Son.
