Spiritual Rx

This quote from C.H. Spurgeon has been haunting me the last couple of days, “When a patient believes in a physician, he carefully follows his prescriptions and directions. Faith that refuses to obey the commands of the Savior is a mere pretense (meaning, false) – and will never save the soul.”

With so many concerns about COVID-19, have you wondered what you would do if you contracted it? If you did, you would 100% follow the instructions of the doctors and hospitals, wouldn’t you? The outcome of your life depends on the medications, procedures, equipment used, and the knowledge of the doctors.

Our souls are eternal, whereas our bodies turn back to dust. Therefore, shouldn’t we be concerned about following the instructions of God for the soul just as we would be if our perishable bodies are in danger?? Inside God’s Word, there is medication (forgiveness/prayer), procedures (commands), equipment (the armor of God), and wisdom (God Himself!). Stop and think about that. We need to continue to be diligent every single day. Our souls are saved at the moment we accept and believe upon Christ, of course. Yet, day-to-day living still needs to reflect the One who saved us! So, in other words: don’t be lax in obeying the Savior of your soul.

As we live our everyday lives (albeit upside down at the moment), remember to follow the spiritual commands given to us to obey. They didn’t disappear. We need to love one another, and we need to love God (Matthew 22:36-40).

I know the Great Physician. I trust Him completely to deliver me from the disease of sin and save my soul. Friend, if you are reading this and do not know God, I urge you to trust in His Son, Jesus. THIS is the truth: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have EVERLASTING LIFE!” John 3:16; READ THIS: 2 Corinthians 4:16-18; Mark 2:15-17; Matthew 4:23-24, 8:14-15 and MANY more healing miracles; Revelation 21:4.
